Diwali



Diwali is my favorite festival. On this day Lord Ram returned to Ayodhya after killing Ravana. It is a festival of light. People decorate their houses. Shopkeepers start new ledger from this day. Goddess Lakshmi is worshippedin the evening. People distribute sweets and gifts among friends and relatives. There is a practice f exploding crackers at night which is not good for health and environment. We must avoid crackers. I enjoy Diwali very much.   

My self


I am student of VIIIth class. I am thirteen years old. I love my family. My father is a doctor and my mother is a teacher. I have an elder brother. I want to become an actor like Sharukh khan. I watch all his movies. I also take dance classes after my school. I am good at studies also. My favorite subject is science. I am early riser. I take a long walk daily in the morning. I am very impressed with our national father- Mahatma Gandhi. I   want to live a simple life with high ideals.

My brother



My younger brother, Golu is very naughty. He is only four years old and study in nursery class.  He is the star of everyone’s eyes in our house. He engages everyone with his naughty activities and funny talks. He imitates his grandfather and all break into laughter.  He is good at studies also. His class teacher is all praise for him. I love him very much.

My sister


My elder sister, Sunita, is my best friend also. She helps me in my studies. She is my friend and guide. I share all my secrets with her. She is trustworthy.  I feel secure with her. She is a very good cook also. Everyone admires her recipes. She is good at mathematics and runs a small tuition centre. I have a deep attachment with her

My mother


My mother is a kind and caring lady. She is very religious. She starts her day with worship. She has devoted her life for her family. Family is at the centre of her thought and action. She always encourages me for a balanced life mixed with study, play, and other activities. She takes care of every member of the family. I feel like heaven in her warm, loving presence.

My Father



My father is a doctor. He is religious person. He performs his duty very honestly. He works in a charitable hospital in the evening.  He is always ready to help poor. He takes care of all our need. I feel very secure under his guidance. He loves us very much but he never forces his ideas on us. But I aspire to be like him. I want to follow his footprints.

My neighbor (a Bad man)



Mr. Rakesh is our next door neighbor. He is not a good man. He always speak ill of others. He is very quarrelsome. He never support anyone. He drinks daily. He uses abusive language. He beat his wife and children. He does not have good terms with anybody in the colony. Everybody hates him. I also dislike him.

Tips-to remove common errors of Noun


Commonly errors in the use of noun occurs because
a)      Some nouns are same in singular and plural form.
b)      Some nouns come only in plural form.
c)      Plural form of some nouns is used in singular. etc.

To remove these errors you should go through following tips.

1)      Some collective nouns are plural even in singular form.-cattle, gentry, people, poultry, folk, police, government etc.
Exampleà  
·        The cattle were grazing in the garden.
·        All gentry re present in the party.
·        People are against corruption.

2) Some nouns are same in singular and plural form-sheep, deer, fish, swine, means wages, pubic, etc.
Exampleà
·        Sheep are going in the forest.
·        His means are small.

3) Dozens, hundred, thousand, million, pair.

A) These words if come after a digit/number are used as singular.
Example à
·        Three dozen oranges.
·        five hundred sentences.
·        Six thousand people.

B) These words if come before preposition “of” are used as plural.

·        Dozens of cows.
·        Hundred of people.
·        Thousands of viewers.

4) Some nouns always come in plural form-scissors, spectacles, trousers, tongs, measles, thanks, assets, riches, etc.

  • His spectacles are imported.

5) Abstract nouns are not used in plural form- kindness, charity, love, hope, poverty.

6) Material nouns are not used in plural form- wood, iron, copper, water, etc.

7) Some Nouns always come in singular form-hair, scenery, furniture, information, vacation, advice, fruit, issue, abuse, luggage, poetry, weather, etc.
